Caroline Blackman-Edney

Director of Procurement, University of Nottingham


Caroline has over 26 years’ experience in procurement, both in manufacturing and public sector. She joined the University of Cambridge in 2002 where she expanded her knowledge of Public Sector Procurement and started her studies for an MSc in Procurement with the University of Glamorgan which she completed in 2005.

She was successful in being promoted through to Head of Procurement in 2004 until she left for a further promotion at the University of Nottingham as Director of Procurement in February 2016.

As an Advocate for Procurement, Caroline’s contribution to developing the professional currently spans over 15 years. Her commitment, passion and drive was recognised by attaining Fellow status at the Chartered Institute of procurement and Supply (CIPS). She continues her support and dissemination of best practice through her role as Director of Procurement, Congress member and Chair of a local CIPS branch but also through participation in various external sub-groups in the on-going development of Professional Procurement across the sector. She was instrumental in raising the profile of procurement within HE as part of her role as a member of a sector board, work which continues now as a member of Procurement UK.
