Jessica Jones is described by Royal Mail’s procurement director as a “trusted member” of the team who “delivers in an exemplary manner.” Not only has she focused on optimising supply
chains, delivering substantial savings for Royal Mail Group across three categories – international air, automation and vehicles – she actively seeks opportunities to expand her skillset. She has procured outside of her category, leading a cross-functional working team, and volunteering on an engineering nightshift to gain first-hand experience into the business challenges of the project. She sits on a continuous improvement working group, is involved in the Women’s Network, and is an ally to the LBGT+ Group. She also attends LEAD, a group for women in retail.
As a result, Jones says she gets insight into customer needs and trends in their businesses directly, invaluable in helping to deliver strategies that are meaningful and beneficial to the
customer. This maturity is just one of the reasons she has been awarded Young Talent of the Year.
Judges’ comments: “Jessica demonstrates real passion for her job and a mature understanding of the areas in which the profession needs to improve. She is very self-motivated and pushes herself to improve. We were particularly impressed with her strong focus on business first, supported by the function. She also showed a good appreciation of how CIPS adds value to the profession.”
