Supplier Diversity: Inspiring Innovation

Technology giant Intel has embraced diversity and inclusion as a fundamental part of its culture. This translates into procurement with a strategy straight from the CEO to achieve spends of $1bn with diverse-owned suppliers by 2020.  Diversity is fully integrated into sourcing processes across EMEA, with workshops organised to engage diverse suppliers and give them equal access to opportunities. Top tier suppliers are encouraged to establish their own supplier diversity programmes. Reporting second tier diverse spends is added into supplier scorecards, and a target is set to achieve 10% tier two spend with diverse suppliers by 2020. Intel participated in the W20 summit (covering women’s empowerment across the G20) and has committed to spend $100m over three years with women-owned businesses globally. All this has contributed to Intel’s supply chain already being ranked in the Gartner Supply Chain Top 25.

Judges said: “Intel is staking its corporate profit on creating and maintaining a diverse supplier market. The investment on a global platform in diversity is impressive and all the evidence proves that diversity is a strong commercial option.”
